Jane Brocket book "The Gentle Art of Quilt Making"

DH went shopping . . .

Am I spoilt or what!  I have the most considerate DH in the world!

DH came home with this wonderful gift for me . . .
I had asked DH to pick up some fabrics for me today and
to my surprise he came home also with this fabulous
book and also fabrics - WOW I am just sooooo lucky . . .

The fabrics are for a quilt called "Hydrangea".
The book is well written, also includes the basics when
starting out and such fabulous photos . . .

The quilt showcases the gorgeous fabrics and I can
see I will be doing a little fussy cutting.

Pincushions - hearts . . .

found this little pattern in the Moda Bake shop . . .

then I just couldn't help myself, another one appeared!!

Raw Edge Layer Cake Quilt

FINISHED . . .

Just took this pic in the fading light . . .
I have finally finished this really easy quilt. I had a whole
lot of fun making it, deciding which way to place the pieces,
then noticing that I had two pieces the same - but that is the real
fun part of quilting.
Interesting the different camera shots with indoor lighting
versus outside - anyhow, I just love it!
Should it go this way or that?
Time for the washing machine. I was a little worried when putting
it into the machine, but it didn't come out so bad after all - I
guess over a period of time it will show up more threads.

Anzac Day

Lest We Forget . . .

__________________________

They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
we will remember them.

Anzac Day marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. The acronym ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, whose soldiers were known as Anzacs. Anzac Day remains one of the most important national occasions of both Australia and New Zealand, a rare instance of two sovereign countries not only sharing the same remembrance day, but making reference to both countries in its name. When war broke out in 1914, Australia and New Zealand had been dominions of the British Empire for thirteen and seven years respectively

Raw Edge Layer Cake Quilt

This is my sort of Sunday afternoon . . .

Started off with "Papillon" layer cake . . .

A little bit of cutting, ironing, inserting batting  . . .

Plenty of overseeing of the project by Aleks . . .

Backing fabric  "Etchings" by Moda . . .

All ready to quilt now - 42 of them . . .

It is so easy when you have the template guide . . .

and . . . one completed square . . .

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday afternoon as much as I am. DH has just called me for lunch, so until next time . . . enjoy whatever you are doing, SuziQ

Found "French General" . . .

I have finally discovered "French General" fabrics!

This will be the main border fabric . . .

Cottage Quiltworks, Warriewood is my local quilting store. I purchased this beautiful kit with the "French General" fabrics and pattern a couple of weeks ago, so decided yesterday to start cutting. Unfortunately, I ran into a little problem with my cutter - Chris and Sandy at Cottage Quiltworks found that the blade was faulty, so now back on track cutting, cutting and more cutting.

Will keep you posted on the progress. Cheers, SuziQ

Petals in the making . . .

Friday night sewing making petals, one after the other, around and around.

This was made for my DH - he loves the colour red.
We were reshuffling my sewing room and DH saw the felt,
which I must admit I had forgotten about - it was buried
under a lot of other fabrics which I knew would come
in handy one day - you know what I mean.

Anyhow, DH came home and sitting in pride of place was
his request for something to be made with the felt.

I really enjoyed doing this, I saw this inspiration on
Cluck Cluck Sew web site - thank you.

Until next time, SuziQ

Lazy Sunday music . . .

I just could not resist playing another tune from The Piano Guys today.
Sit back, relax and turn up the volume,
to a little Elvis - I hope you enjoy,
 Cheers, SuziQ
